Course Profile

William has taught in both SEN and Mainstream schools in the UK and it was while teaching in a school for students with moderate learning difficulties, that William became interested in stress. He noticed that a number of teachers were away with stress related illnesses but when he spoke to them they seemed to have very different symptoms. His experience and subsequent research led him to find that there were many teachers suffering from Burnout but were unaware of it or not willing to discuss it due to the stigma that was attached to emotional illness. His findings led him to write two courses on ‘Burnout.’ The first one entitled ‘Burnout and the Teaching Profession’ ‘From Crisis to Independence’ offers information to teachers who have experienced or members of staff who are interested in Burnout on recovery, Mental Health issues, methods of investigation and initiating change in practices which give rise to excessive stress.
