Join the Awards Committee

The Awards Committee meets six times a year to discuss The College’s qualifications and awards as well as news from The College’s Centres. The Committee supervises the academic work and advises The College on matters related to the development of teachers and others who work in education. 
The Committee's terms of reference are laid out in The College's Royal Charter and Bylaws.

The Committee’s role is:

  • To perform the role of an Academic Board.
  • To supervise the academic work of The College and to advise The College on matters related to the continuing professional development of teachers and others who work in education.
  • To approve the results for The College qualifications.
  • To propose fees for candidates and examiners for approval by the Executive Committee.
  • To consider proposals for new qualifications and revisions to existing qualifications for the approval of council.
  • To consider ways in which The College’s qualifications can be developed to meet the needs of professional development of teachers and any external requirements.
  • To make recommendation to the President about The College's prizes.
  • To keep under review the Code of Professional Practice for Examiners and Assessors.

Become an Assessor of The College of Teachers

The College of Teachers seeks to appoint appropriately qualified and experienced individuals internationally to join its pool of part-time assessors in all areas of education, commercial training and learning support.Assessors would ideally have the following qualifications:

  • A Masters Degree or equivalent at Level 7 NQF in their field or related subjects.
  • Experience in preparing course submissions; and
  • At least four years’ teaching or training experience in all aspects and components of education.

The work is commissioned as and when required and will be remunerated according to The College’s Pay Scale for Examiners and Assessors. The College offers in return:
