Honorary Fellow 2006 - Professor Joan Freeman

Professor Joan Freeman

Joan Freeman's work in the development of human abilities to their highest level spans several decades, notably her on-going comparative research on gifted and and non-gifted children started in 1974. She has been visiting professor at several universities and has given hundreds of invited addresses to universities, education authorities, schools and colleges around the world. She is a Chartered Psychologist with a private practice based in London.  

Joan's doctorate in Child Psychology is from the University of Manchester. She is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society and Founding President of the European Council for High Ability (ECHA). She has been Senior Vice-President of The College of Teachers and is a Patron of the National Association for Able Children in Education.

Joan Freeman has published many books for scholars and parents, over 100 refereed academic publications and more than 350 articles, chapters and book reviews on child development and general psychology in non-academic media. Joan often broadcasts on TV and radio.
