Dr Johnny Ball - Honorary Fellow 2010

Dr Johnny Ball was a regular fixture on children’s television in the 1970s and 1980s, having been a presenter on ‘Play School’ (1964-88) and the writer and presenter of ‘Think of a Number’ and ‘Think Again’. His shows were renowned for presenting scientific and technological principles in an entertaining way which is accessible for young people. His often eccentric presenting style masked the keen intelligence that also scripted 15 award-winning ‘Think’ series from 1977 to 1987, popular science and technology programmes for children.

Johnny Ball has three honorary doctorates in Science from Glasgow, Sheffield Hallam and Salford Universities, one in Arts from Leicester and is an honorary fellow of John Moores University and Fellow of the RSA. He was Rector of the University of Glasgow from 1993 to 1996.
