Lady Plowden Memorial Medal 2009

In 2009 The Lady Plowden Memorial Medal was awarded for the first time. The recipient was Professor Geoff Whitty.

Professor Whitty has been Director of the Institute of Education, University of London since 2000. Geoff Whitty is former President of the British Educational Research Association, and a member of the General Teaching Council for England. He is a specialist advisor to the House of Commons Children, Schools and Families Committee. Geoff Whitty was President of The College of Teachers from 2004 until January 2009 and in that time strengthened links between The College and the Institute of Education and other key stakeholders in education.

Francis Plowden and Penelope Plowden, the son and daughter of Lady Plowden were present at the event to award the medal.
