Lady Vallance of Tummel

Elizabeth Vallance taught political philosophy at London University for twenty years, becoming head of the department of politics at Queen Mary College, where she was afterwards a visiting professor and is now an Honorary Fellow.

On leaving full-time academic life, Elizabeth Vallance developed a portfolio of interests in the public, private and voluntary sectors. She is a former Chairman of Council of The Institute of Education, University of London and sits on the boards of Charter European Trust plc and the Medical Protection Society. In 2007, she became chairman of I CAN, the children’s communication charity and in 2008-09 was High Sheriff of Greater London.
