Professor Ray Page

Ray Page spent over 45 years in education as a teacher, trainer, researcher, manager and consultant from primary to higher education. At St Paul’s College of Education he helped develop a BEd course in Science and PE before moving to Bath University’s School of Education where he set up concurrent degree and teacher certificate courses then ran the Science and Technology Education Centre.

A move to Bromley followed, as a General Inspector then as Deputy Director responsible for the Inspectorate and Schools. Here he introduced computers into schools, upgraded science laboratories and established a technology programme, also setting up an inspectorate to monitor standards and an advisory service to help schools improve their educational standards and goals.

Ray moved to South Bank University as Assistant then Deputy Director responsible for academic standards and resources. Within the process of South Bank becoming a taught and research degree-awarding institution in its own right, he reorganised the faculty structure and introduced several new degrees.

In the early 90s he became Director of Governor Services for the Centre for Educational Management and later National Development Director for the 40 Science and Technology Regional Organisations. In 1998, he accepted the post of CEO of the newly-formed College of Teachers, where he brought The College of Teachers' finances back into surplus, developed centres offering College awards in the UK and overseas particularly in the fields of school governance, TESOL, SEN and middle management; he also secured development and research grants.

Professor Ray Page continues to be involved in the work of The College of Teachers by being the Executive Editor for Publications Committee.
