Professor David Bellamy OBE - Honorary Fellow 2011

David Bellamy is Britain’s best-known botanist, television presenter, writer and environmental campaigner with a career that spans several decades.

David wrote and presented over 400 television programmes on botany and environmental issues during the 1970s and 1980s.

He has written over 45 books as well as publishing scientific papers throughout his career.

David is the co-founder of The Conservation Foundation and is a recipient of several honorary doctorates from universities in the UK and overseas. David is also the recipient of The Dutch Order of the Golden Ark, awarded to those who have made a significant and outstanding contribution to nature conservation. He was awarded the UNEP Global500 Award, given to individuals for outstanding achievements in the protection and and improvement of the environment. In addition David has been a recipient of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award for Underwater Research; BAFTA, Richard Dimbleby Award, BSAC Diver of The Year Award and the RGS Busk Medal.

David received the OBE in recognition of his conservation work.
