Sir David Green

Sir David Green was Director General of the British Council between 1999 and 2007. During his time at the British Council the organisation focussed on working with younger audiences in achieving the aim of achieving mutually beneficial relationships between people in the UK and other countries.

Sir David's professional career is in development, education and the voluntary sector. He was Director of Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) from 1990 to 1999. Previously he held posts at Save The Children Fund and he started his career as a school teacher.

Since 2008 Sir David has taken over as Chair of Dartington Hall Trust.
