William Simmonds

Having previously been employed in the field of insurance and financial management for 21 years, William (Bill) Simmonds entered the field of education in 1989 and has 20 years of experience of working in school finance and administration. He is a Freeman of the Guild of Educators and became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 2003.

Bill was appointed Chief Executive of the National Bursars Association in April 2003. where he aimed to professionalise the Association and bring it to be seen as ‘the’ Association for Bursars and School Business Managers. In 2008, in accordance with one of Bill’s goals the name was changed to the National Association of School Business Management (NASBM) in order to retain its professional status for its members.

The Association is a strategic partner of the National College for School Leadership and the Training and Development Agency. Bill works with many of the DCSF departments and the Association is recognised as being a leading professional association in Education. The Association provides practical support, an Educational Leadership qualification at Masters Level and training workshops on a variety of subjects relevant to bursars and school business managers.
