Events

The College of Teachers runs a number of events during the course of the academic year, including debates, briefings, lectures and its annual Awards Ceremony. The College of Teachers is also present at education shows, conferences and other events organised externally.

Teachers as Writers seminar

The College of Teachers will be running a seminar for teachers and teacher training students on how to have their writing published in academic and professional journals.

National Year of Communication 2011

2011 has been designated by the UK Government the National Year of Communication, with the aim of putting the importance of speech, language and communication firmly on the public radar. The College of Teachers is supporting this in a number of ways.

February 2011

An alternative route to CPD for schools.

The College of Teachers held a briefing meeting for representatives of UK-based schools to discuss their current CPD provision. The College is developing an easy-to-use accreditation model for schools to use together with their existing CPD provision.

March 2011

The Importance of Teaching: the importance of teacher education

In 'The importance of Teaching: The Schools White Paper 2010' plans to 'reform the way in which new and existing teachers are trained and developed' were set out in some detail. They include increasing school-based training routes, developing a national network of teaching schools and establishing university training schools.

The College of Teachers held a second briefing meeting for representatives of UK-based schools to discuss their current CPD provision.

Awards Ceremony

2009 recipientsThe College of Teachers Awards Ceremony is held annually at the Institute of Education, University of London.

The purpose of the Awards Ceremony is to confer Honorary Fellowship and Honorary Membership upon senior figures in education and to those who have made a distinguished contribution to education nationally or internationally.
Individuals who have received a College of Teachers' qualification are also welcome to attend the annual Awards Ceremony to celebrate their achievements.

When: 17 May 2011, 6pm
Where: Jeffery Hall, main building, IOE, London.

An alternative route to CPD for schools

The College of Teachers will be holding a briefing in a central Manchester venue for representatives of UK-based schools to discuss their current CPD provision. Contact Emma Barrett at ebarrett@collegeofteachers.ac.uk to book your attendance.
