National Year of Communication 2011
2011 is the National Year of Communication to help put the importance of speech, language and communication firmly on the public radar.
The National Year is supported by The Department for Education, BT, 39 members and the Communication Champion Jean Gross.
The Communication Trust, a coalition of over 35 voluntary and non-profit organisations, will manage and deliver the national year, now known as the Hello campaign. The national year seeks to reach a broad range of audiences - parents, children and young people, the children’s workforce and commissioners and providers of services. The Communication Trust's November Pack is now available on their website.
The College of Teachers will be supporting the aims of the National Year of Communication in a number of ways, including:
- online courses designed to develop knowledge and understanding of communication with skills to facilitate this in ourselves and others
- a conference event in November 2011
- articles in Education Today, including "The impact of speech, language
and communication needs in the classroom" by Communication Champion
Jean Gross (December 2010)
