The College of Teachers is firmly committed to respecting and safeguarding your privacy while using this website. This policy does not affect your legal rights, nor does it affect any other party. It is important to note that this includes organisations which may be linked this website. The College of Teachers does not warrant any product or service offered by any third party on this site as being fit for purpose.
The information we collect
We collect, store and use the following information about you:
- information about the computer you are using, the pages that you visit on this site, sites that you have previously visited and your geographical location.
- information relating to financial transactions carried out with us online and offline, including the products and services you have purchased, registered for or been given.
- information that you provide to us for the purposes of becoming a member or undertaking a qualification.

What we do with the information we collect
We use this information to:
- administer this website
- improve the services we offer

- request payments and send receipts, often in conjunction with third party payment processors
- send you emails, letters, faxes or phone calls on College matters
- provide third parties with anonymous data about visitor browsing habits
- deal with enquiries or complaints
- fulfil any lawful request for information about an individual

- any other use identified in our entry in the Data Protection Register held by The Office of the Information Commissioner
- establish or defend or exercise our legal rights
Will will not:
- Pass your personal details to any third party without a lawful request to do so
- Sell any data about you for profit, whether anonymous or personalised.
- Store your data on servers outside of the United Kingdom unless equal or better security can be ensured.
Security
All financial transactions are secured with industry standard SSL technology. We take the greatest of care with information about you both online and offline. We will never ask you for password information and it is important to note that you are totally responsible for the security of usernames and passwords issued to you. We will not be held responsible for data breaches caused by unforced entry to our files, either online or offline. All staff contracts outline employee's rights and responsibilities in processing personal data and breaches are dealt with by normal disciplinary procedures.
We cannot be held responsible for the inherent lack of encryption of all web traffic and it is important to note that although we protect your data once it reaches us we cannot ensure it is not intercepted before reaching us.
Your rights
Under the terms of the Data Protection Act, and in some cases the Freedom of Information Act, you have to right to see all the data held by us about you. A charge of £10 is levied for the disclosure of this information and requests will be fulfilled within 40 days of receiving a written request and cleared funds.
