Professor David Turner, MA, PhD, PGCE, AcSS, FRSA

Professor David TurnerDavid Turner is Professor of Education at the University of Glamorgan. He works in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences where he has responsibility for promoting research in Education.

His research interests include the history of progressive education, policy, finance and governance of educational institutions, comparative education and theory in education studies. He has published widely on these topics, and has been a visiting lecturer in Japan, Mexico, Canada and the USA.

His books, Theory of Education (Continuum, 2004) and Theory and Practice of Education (Continuum, 2007), have received very positive reviews. His latest book, Using the Medical Model in Education (Continuum, 2009) was published in November 2009.

He is currently visiting professor at Hiroshima University, where he is working on a book on quality in higher education, another on the works of Brian Holmes in the field of comparative education, and a third on rural education in Mexico. He is also developing a research project on the development of self-identity in different social settings.
