Publications Committee

The purpose of this committee is to discuss progress and develop ideas surrounding The College's publications. The two publications that are discussed in detail are Education Today, the Newsletter and any other publications on behalf of council as well as to make recommendations on publications policy to council and/or the executive committee. All members of the committee are expected to help find contributors, including authors.

Publicity, marketing and development are also topics that are discussed in detail where thoughts and ideas are shared to enable development in these areas.

The terms of reference for this committee are outlined below as in The College's Royal Charter and Bylaws.

• To ensure any publications of The College are published on time and maintain the highest standards possible.

• To advise the executive committee on publications policy.

• To ensure the journal and newsletter meet the criteria laid down by council and/or executive committee and that the criteria for the journal are such that it regains HEFC recognition.

• To recommend the names of potential contributors to the Editors and possible publications to the executive committee.

• To monitor the quality of articles for relevance; developing the generic role of the teacher; and sound classroom practice backed by action research.

• To approve any notes of guidance for potential authors.

• To ensure the newsletter is complementary to the newsletter of the specialist associations of institutional members.

• To ensure Education Today is complementary to any journal of the specialist associations of institutional members.

• To act on an individual or paired basis as referees for articles and publications as well as to recommend suitable outside referees.

• To oversee The College’s website and advise the CEO and Registrar on publicity material.
